Coron, Palawan Food Trip

April 22-25, 2011 - Coron, Palawan

This Holy week, LJ and I spent it in Coron. We wanted to have an adventure and go to a place we both haven't been to. People who have been to Coron always give excellent reviews about the place, people and food. And from our experience, they were right!

Here are our favorite pictures from the trip:

Went up 700+ steps up Mt. Tapyas and saw this wonderful view!

Relax time at Maquinit Hot Springs

Snorkling at Kayangan Lake. Wonderful limestone rock formations under the water.

Fish feeding

Amazing views!

Bulog Dos beach's clear blue waters

Besides having a great time hanging out at the beach and exploring the different islands and sights, LJ and I had wonderful dishes to eat in Coron.

Breakfast:

We had free breakfast every morning that comes with our room at HOTEL MICHELANGELO. We could choose from a Continental, American or Filipino Breakfast.

Beef Tapa with eggs and bread. (why bread? I wanted to have jam and butter. haha)

LJ had this for breakfast during our whole stay. The man loves his bacon, what can I do? :)

Their longganisa tasted like chicken but it was very good!

The local danggit. It's different from Cebu's danggit. It's more meaty, and is not dried. It is usually frozen when you want to bring it home for pasalubong. Really good with rice and suka (vinegar)! yum!

PICNIC LUNCH BY THE BEACH:

These were all prepared by our tour guide. Our lunch and snacks during the tour was part of our tour package. Our tour guide Jeff really did a great job cooking our food and making us feel at home in Coron.

Our lunch during our first day of touring the islands. I love the colorful plastic dishes that were used :)

Alimasag that only LJ ate because I'm allergic! (yes, it's sad)

Grilled liempo that they grilled on the boat. Yummm!

Grilled fish that was super fresh and not at all "malansa"

Our lunch at Banana Island.

Grilled Chicken that was super flavorful! It was marinated very well.

Shrimps (again, I'm allergic to this)! Lj ate most of this and left the small ones. haha

This fish has meaty whity flesh and tough skin. Really good!

Mango, Tomato, Eggplant, Onion and Bagoong salad! Perfect parter to all our grilled food!

Star Apple! :)

FOOD AT NUVO HOTEL MICHELANGELO

Our hotel is owned by an Italian who moved to Coron and married a Filipina. Their Italian food are really good because quality ingredients are used. You can see a lot of foreigners and Filipinos eat here during dinner time.

Fried Fish Fillet with Tartar sauce and Fries - is this even Italian? Well, who cares. The fish is crispy and tender on the inside. It was a nice Good Friday meal. :)

Aglio E Olio pasta (Garlic and Oil) - Simple yet it was cooked perfectly. Perfect eaten with the fish sticks too!

Butter Fried Chicken Fillet with Fries - This went well with our pasta order which was...

Meatball Pasta - We loved the red sauce because it didn't taste like it came from a can. Fresh marinara sauce is always the best!

DINNER AT CENTRO CORON

Sizzling Squid - Big chunks of squid with a gravy like sauce. Lj liked it and almost finished this whole plate. :)

Grilled Salmon Head - Salmon is my favorite fish! I learned how to eat salmon head becuase my mom loves this part of the fish especially the eyeballs! :)

We had dinner at another place called MACARIO'S GRILL but we didn't have our camera! Their best seller is the chicken inasal that comes with a bowl of nilagang baka soup. Filipino comfort food!

Our Coron trip was such an amazing experience. We were really at awe with each place we went to. I hope we can all promote tourism in our own country because we have so much more to offer! :)

For information on places to stay in in Coron and also the best tour package, I'll give you a contact number. :)

Til' next time!
