Blast from the past Fridate: Jatujak

January 21, 2010 - Jatujak - SM Megamall

Jatujak was suggested by a friend way before (thanks Cars!). Since LJ is not a big fan of Thai food and had a bad experience at one popular Thai resto (soms), he was a bit hesitant to try this place. He got annoyed because I chose Thai food for this week's Fridate but he then changed his mood right after he tasted the food! I'm glad Jatujak made him realize that Thai food is good after all :)

our order:

Chicken Pandan - very tender and juicy!
Pork Sate sticks - we loved the peanut sauce. don't forget to add the vinegar dipping sauce!
Red Curry beef - we asked for medium level of spiciness. It was super fragrant and tasty! Makes you want to eat more rice. haha
Thai Iced tea - Loved the tall glass. Strong tea taste, just the way I like it.

Pork Sate. Bits and pieces of peanuts in the sauce.

Loved the big glass of Thai Iced tea.

Chicken pandan with jasmine rice. Oh rice is sooo good! :)

Red Curry Beef. We asked for medium heat. It was so fragrant.

Blast from the past Fridate: Chelsea

January 8, 2010 - Chelsea - Serendra

First Fridate of the year! :) I was craving for some breakfast food and so I ordered waffles for my main course. All i can say is: OMG. bacon dipped in chocolate is amazing. drooooolll.....

- Grilled-Roasted Herb Chicken and Crispy Bacon Salad - Baby romaine lettuce, toasted almonds, Grandma's Caesar Dressing

- Their Signature French Onion and Herb - Fresh herbs, multigrain toast, torched mozzarella and Swiss Gruyere Cheese

- Classic Beer Battered Fish and Chips - Grandma Irene's house made coleslaw, malt vinegar, tartar aioli

- Belgian waffles with Caramelized bananas, whipped cream and Bacon dipped in chocolate

We love to eatttt! :) Cheers to more Fridates for 2011! :)

Fish and Chips. The vinegar is good with the fries.

French onion soup!

Crispy Bacon goodness.

Bacon dipped in Chocolate!! It's the star of this dish!

Blast from the past Fridate: Cafe Juanita

December 10, 2010 - Cafe Juanita - Barangay Kapitolyo, Pasig

Christmas traffic is sooo bad! So we decided to eat somewhere close to home. Cafe Juanita's specialties are the Filipino dishes that they made even better.
Sinigang with corned beef and chorizo was amazing! Meat was tender (had the right amount of fat!) and the soup had a mean tamarind taste. The sisig on tofu was very tasty and the combination was perfect! :)

For dessert, you must try the toffee pudding with ice cream! I loved the butterscotch drizzled all over! Sansrival was good. Nothing spectacular though. :)

The new Cafe Juanita just a few steps away from the old one

Sisig on Tofu - Loved the crunchy sisig on soft tofu. Great combination of textures.

Corned Beef chorizo sinigang - Just the right amount of sourness! The beef melts in your mouth.

I can't live without desserts!

Toffee Pudding with Ice Cream! The yellow sauce is butterscotch. Yum!

Sansrival with Mangoes

Blast from the past Fridate: Ramen Bar

December 2, 2010 - Ramen Bar - Eastwood Mall

I have to say Ramen Bar has one of the best bowls of Ramen I've tasted in Manila (well, it's not like I had alot already haha). Noodles were perfectly cooked, the soup was so flavorful and the pork?...MELTS IN YOUR MOUTH. The ramen made me feel like I'd get better right away if I were sick. The flavor was very comforting. :)

LJ's comment: For 380 pesos, you might feel like you are paying too much for a bowl of noodles, but I think to get every peso's worth, you have to enjoy the broth too. The tonkotsu broth is really good. Might be a good place to eat if it's a rainy day.

Obviously, WE LOVED our choice of Fridate. SARAAAAP talaga!! try it yourself! :)

Gyoza appetizer. Nothing great but good enough.

Super Chasyu Ramen - Soy infused tonkotsu ramen topped with overflowing slices of chasyu (thinly sliced pork)

RBS #1 - Soy infused tonkotsu ramen topped with tamago(egg), naruto(fish sticks), nori(seaweed), negi(spring onion), chasyu (sliced pork) and kakuni (braised pork belly)

Fried tempura ice cream. Sweetness level is just right. The breading tasted like a croissant.

Blast from the past Fridate: Ye Dang Korean BBQ

October 24, 2010 - Ye Dang Korean BBQ

We love Korean food! :) I think we like it mostly because of the small plates of appetizers that come with every meal. haha. Korean beef stew is a must have here. Super tender beef that falls of the bone with yummy sauce. It's good with rice! :D The bbq pork belly was tasty but the serving was little compared to the other Korean places we've eaten in.

Korean Beef Stew. Best eaten with rice.

Pork Belly!

Appetizers galore!

Blast from the past Fridate: Chili's

October 15, 2010 - Chili's - Greenhills

There was a reason why Chili's was this fridate's resto selection. It was because I wanted to buy masachi balls from EAT WELL. but After dinner, it was closed! gosh. fail! BUT dinner wasn't a fail, how can you go wrong in Chili's? :)

Chicken Crispers with fries and corn! Honey mustard sauce yum!

Big mouth bites. Mini burgers with bacon, cheese, ranch dressing. Onion rings on the side!

Blast from the past Fridate: Trio

October 2, 2010 - Trio - The Fort Strip

This place was suggested by LJ's sister. She told us about the risotto. and damn it was so good! haha. We loved the meat and thinly sliced garlic on top of the risotto! Our eggplant and spinach appetizer was a great balance to the rich food we ordered! haha.

LJ says: I love beef! The risotto is a 100% because of the beef. The creamy risotto should be shared because of it's richness. Appetizers were good too though the ravioli could have been crunchier.

Eggplant stuffed with spinach and cheese

Trio of Crisps

The most amazing tenderloin and mushroom risotto. We couldn't get over how good it was!

Blast from the past Fridate: Nanbantei of Tokyo

October 1, 2010 - Nanbantei of Tokyo - Greenbelt 3

Nanbantei is known for their yakitori sticks. You'll see the grill packed with different kinds of meat and veggies. Good thing we were seated in the bar area to see how these little bbq sticks are cooked!
Lover of spicy food? The tuna sashimi salad will definitely be for you. and for mushroom lovers, try the shitake rice! it compliments the yakitori sticks! yummmm!

LJ says: I like the pork and chicken the best. The beef should be eaten hot off the grill.Doesn't taste so good when cold. The spicy tuna could have used more tempura batter to have a crunchy texture. :)

Shitake Rice! The sweet shitake mushrooms was perfect with the salty nori

Pork yaki garlic and Nanban yaki (beef)

Spicy tuna salad. Really spicy!

Aspara Maki - asparagus wrapped in pork

Blast from the past Fridate: Cyma

September 25, 2010 - Cyma - Eastwood Mall

Pork Ribs with stuffed green bell pepper

The rice inside was flavorful

Cheese Lover number 1

Saganaki! Cheese is our ultimate favorite!

Cheese Lover number 2!

Blast from the past groupdate: Borough

September 18, 2010 (Saturday) - Borough - Podium

Lj and I had dinner at Borough with the girls! This New York inspired place was really something the girls and I had to try. Brunch/Comfort food is the best. We all got something different and shared our food. What a feast!! haha
