Hossein's Persian Kebab

August 19, 2011 - Hossein's Persian Kebab - Serendra, Fort Bonifacio

Oh what a busy busy week it has been. All I wanted to do this weekend is relax and not do anything! Good thing LJ was the one who made the initiative on thinking of a place for our Fridate dinner. He chose Hossein's in Serendra, a persian restaurant. It's a high end Persian restaurant, which is a big upgrade from our Al-Fhaker's dinner. haha

Here's what we ordered:

Motabal - Roasted Egglant Puree with olive oil and spices. Since we usually order hummus in Persian restaurants so we decided to try something different. You can really taste the eggplant on this one. It's not as heavy as hummus and is very refreshing. Nice way to start off a meal. Plus, adding this to the meat was perfect!

Chelou (on their menu it was spelled with a U) Kebab with Beryani Rice and Roasted Tomatoes - The meat tasted very authentic and full of flavor. You can taste that it was grilled on a charcoal grill and not fried (like other Persian restautants).

Thier serving was really for sharing. LJ and I shared this plate and finished all of it!

Beryani Rice - Long grain rice is used and herbs, raisins and cashews were added. You can practically eat this rice on it's own since it's full of flavor.

Their garlic sauce had strong garlic smell but when you taste it, it was very light and creamy. It went well with the kebab and you'll definitely ask for more.

Baklava - This sweet flaky pastry is perfect to take out that garlic taste in your mouth. The pastry is filled with chopped pistachios. It was a small serving but we realized that it was just right since it was very rich and too much of it might give you a sugar rush.

I'm glad we got to try this place. Hossein's had a nice ambiance and very classy interior. Too bad we didn't get to take a picture. :(
